Registration

 

FALL 2012-2013 REGISTRATION ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION

Children who have reached the age of six months before September 1, 2012 through children who turn five after September 1, 2012 are eligible to attend MDO. All classes have a six-month age range. Should vacancies occur during the course of the school year, they will be filled with children whose birthdays fall within the appropriate six-month period from the existing waiting list.   

MDO admits students of any race to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. MDO does not discriminate on the basis of race in the administration of its educational, admissions and employment policies.

FALL 2012-2013 REGISTRATION FORM 

Open enrollment for new families begins February 6, 2012. Priority is given to siblings of current or past enrollees and members of the Peachtree Baptist Church. Please print the form available here, complete and mail to the P.O. Box listed below.

In order to process your registration, please ATTACH A REGISTRATION FEE OF $100 TO THE REGISTRATION FORM (make checks payable to MDO).  Use a separate form for each child you are registering (you may pay the registration fee for multiple children using one check).  We will notify you of your child’s enrollment status no later than March 30th. The $100 registration fee is refundable only if we are unable to schedule your child.

ENROLLMENT

Children must be enrolled at least one regularly scheduled day per week.  Children under the age of 2 may be registered for no more than 2 days per week.  Once a child has reached his/her second birthday, the number of days for which they are enrolled may be increased to as many as three days per week, space permitting. Children turning 3 during the school year must attend a minimum of 2 days per week.  Children in the young 4’s classroom (turning 4 after 9/1/2012) must attend at least three days.  Children in the older 4’s class (turning 4 by 9/1/2012) must attend at least four days per week.

Enrollment is determined on a first-come, first-serve basis.  In order to increase the possibility of securing your preferred days, please return the registration form in a timely manner.  Some classes fill up quickly, however we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Children who are currently enrolled, siblings of currently enrolled or formerly enrolled children, members of Peachtree Baptist Church and families who have been on a wait list for enrollment during the current school year have priority until new family registration begins.  

PARENT VOLUNTEERS

At MDO, volunteering is an important part of our culture.  Parents are strongly encouraged to volunteer and help with various monthly activities such as laundry and toy cleaning.  We also expect each family to volunteer and participate in our major fundraisers, Kids’ Market and Auction, as well as other functions throughout the year.  When parents come together to support our school, we strengthen our community and teach our children the importance of doing our part.  There are many ways that parents can volunteer.  If you choose not to volunteer, we cannot guarantee a spot for your child in the following year. 

ACTIVITY FEE

For the 2012/2013 school year, MDO will require a $160 fee per child to help fund extracurricular programs, such as Art, Music, Language, Creative Movement, Curriculum Enrichment and other special programs that supplement your child’s learning experience.  This fee is due with your first month’s tuition payment.
 
TUITION

In May of this year, or upon registration acceptance, one month’s tuition (based on the number of days your child will attend per week) is due from all enrollees as a deposit for the 2012-2013 school year and is applied to May 2013 tuition.  This deposit is due upon enrollment for children registering after May 2012.  Confirmation of registration will not be made until the May escrow tuition has been paid.  The prepayment of May tuition is held in escrow and will be refunded ONLY under the following condition: a family moves from the Atlanta area AND thirty days written notice of withdrawal from MDO is given to the Director.
 
Monthly tuition is based on the number of days per week your child is registered to attend school. Current tuition for the 2011-2012 school year is $90.00 per month, per day your child attends MDO. With the exception of May, tuition will be collected at the beginning of every month starting in September. Tuition for the 2012-2013 school year will be confirmed when our budget process is complete in the Spring.
2011-2012 monthly tuition schedule: 
1 day:    $90.00/month  
2 days: $180.00/month  
3 days: $270.00/month  
4 days: $360.00/month  
5 days: $450.00/month
School is scheduled to begin in early September 2012 with the exception of the Baby Class that starts in mid-September. The school year will run through May as determined by our summer camp start up dates. Full tuition is due even when MDO may be closed during part of the month for vacation or holidays or if your child does not attend his/her regular school days.School closing dates generally coincide with those set for the Atlanta Public Schools.
Please carefully consider the attendance days you desire when registering.  We recognize your schedule may require fine-tuning so, until the end of June, families may change days according to current space availability in their child’s assigned classroom.  The escrow (May tuition) paid will not be refunded when a day or days are dropped.  If you wish to change the days you have registered for after July 1st, 2012 (select different days but not change the number of days your child attends) you may do so for a fee of $20 per day changed, provided that there is space available.
