Music and Art Classes
There is a rotating weekly class of art or music offered on Wednesdays
and Thursdays. In music class, children learn songs, play "instruments"
and move to a variety of musical selections.
In art class, the projects can include painting, collage and multi-media
creations - focusing on the process, not the product.
Curriculum Enrichment
A parent volunteer organizes monthly special performances for the children.
Children who do not regularly attend the day a performance is scheduled
are welcome to attend with a parent.
These special programs have included musical performances, storytellers,
puppet shows, a visit from the fire truck and farm animals to feed, comb
and pet.
Field Trips
Children in our Multi-age classes also go on field trips! Past trips
have included going to a local park, a behind the scenes tour of a local
grocery store and post office, performances at the Center for Puppetry
Arts and visits to tour and create art work at the High Museum of Art.
Creative Movement
All children except those in the baby class participate in a movement
class once a month. The children move and groove as they work on following
directions, listening, controlling their bodies and having fun!
Activity Days
Children in classes 3 and up also enjoy special activity days. Parent
volunteers sign up to do special activities such as crafts or cooking.
Special music and art activities are planned around holidays or monthly
themes.
Science and Spanish
Children in the Multi-Age classes participate in weekly Spanish and
monthly science classes led by dedicated teachers trained specifically
in their respective fields.
